The World in 2008

The United Nations Association of Huntingtown High School will be hosting the first guest lecture and Q&A on Islam & Terrorism on 13 March 2008 from 12.30 to 2.00, open to select AP History classes. The event will feature Susan Douglass of the Prince al-Waleed bin Talal Center for Muslim Christian Understanding (Georgetown) and Jeff Smith of the American Foreign Policy Council.

The event's topics are designed to complement one another: Mr. Smith will address the dynamics of America's challenges in the Middle East. Ms. Douglass will offer a broader perspective on Islam, challenging students to understand that the totality of Islam is not limited to the Middle East alone and that its relevance is far more than a matter of terrorism.

After the event, we'll be posting photos.
